
Rene Trevino is currently the Director of Operations at Basis Plano Charter School. He has a current teaching certificate. He previously worked as a teacher in Dallas ISD and Richardson ISD. When he was employed as a teacher at Gaston Middle School in Dallas ISD, Rene Trevino was accused of sexual misconduct by several students.


In March 2019, Trevino was informed that he was placed on paid leave while an investigation was underway.

In August 2019, Trevino received a written reprimand. The Professional Standards Investigation (PSO) substantiated that he violated DH (Exhibit) Standard 3.5 as he openly admitted to “messing” with a Student’s zipper on her jacket. a Student’s zipper on her jacket.
Furthermore, based on student statements PSO found reason to believe that he made inappropriate comments to students. These actions violated Dallas ISD policies and DH (Exhibit) 3.5.

Before the written reprimand, Trevino was informed in May 2019 that he would be reassigned to another school in the district. Then principal of Gaston Middle School, Janeen Whitmore, was the initial reporter of Trevino’s misconduct. She recommended to the Superintendent of Schools that
the employee Rene Trevino ID#85709, teacher at Gaston Middle School be reprimanded and assigned to a different campus for the 2019-20 school year pursuant to Board Policy DF Local (certified emp/oyee).”
The recommendation is being made for the following reasons:
In order to maintain a positive school environment for both students and Mr.
Mr. Trevino’s actions were not professional, nor appropriate for the school setting.
