Mica Miller’s death is very suspicious. She had recently filed for divorce from her husband, pastor John-Paul Miller of Solid Rock Church at Market Common, Myrtle Beach, SC. There are allegations of abuse. Mica was found deceased from a gunshot wound on April 27, 2024 at Lumberton State Park in North Carolina. The Daily Beast reported that the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday it was opening a probe into Miller’s death, with Maj. Damien McLean telling WPDE its officers were still “in the process of gathering information from people in South and North Carolina as part of their investigation into how Miller died.”
John-Paul Miller announced his estranged wife’s death after preaching a message, two services actually. He instructed church members not to discuss it further. Mica’s mother posted to Facebook that Mica had filed for a no contact order just days prior to her death. Mica was 30 years old.
On April 18, 2024, I received a message from someone local to Myrtle Beach that had concerns about Mica Miller related to her estranged husband John Paul’s alleged abusive behavior. This person reached out for help to spread awareness about these concerns. Allegedly there have been church members and elders leaving JP’s church over concerns about his behavior in the last few months. I offered to help however I could. The next reply I received was last Sunday afternoon informing me of the terrible news of Mica’s death. I was sick and heartbroken. I hope I can do justice to her memory by spreading awareness of the unjust circumstances surrounding her death.
This man JP Miller has been telegraphing his abusive ways for a while straight from the pulpit. I am grateful to my source for putting together a video compilation of some of JP’s recent creepy sermon excerpts in the weeks prior to Mica’s death. The video begins with the announcement of her death.
There have been red flags for years about John Paul Miller. He was married before he met Mica when she was only 14 years old. He is alleged to have groomed her. They married sometime after she turned 18. JP is 14 years older than her.
JP Miller pled guilty to an aggravated assault/deadly weapon charge in 2000.
One of the most disturbing sermon clips is JP discussing Mica’s hospitalization during which time he searched through her phone records going back 2 years and found texts from 18 people regarding concerns for her related to her marriage.
The Solid Rock Church website has been suspended as of today.
It is alleged that JP has been involved with another woman for a while even prior to his divorce from Mica. He has been seen out with this woman just a few days after Mica’s death. This woman is said to be Suzie Skinner whose husband Chris Skinnner also died under suspicious circumstances in 2021. JP Miller officiated his funeral service.
Community members gathered at the Solid Rock church at Market Common to hold a “Justice for Mica” rally this morning.

Myrtle Beach police reports are also being circulated online pertaining to John Paul Miller and Mica. Note that 3 days after Mica’s death, John Paul Miller attempted to access her apartment but was denied entry after the manager contacted police. In another report, Mica stated that she met John Paul when she was 10 years old and that he groomed her when she worked for him at Solid Rock church until they married 6 years ago. John Paul is about 15 years older than Mica.
