In October 2024, I wrote about Prestonwood Christian Academy hiring the spouse, Rebekah Johnson, of convicted sex offender Adam Johnson. In the fall of 2010, a coach at Prestonwood Christian Academy (PCA), Adam Ronald Johnson, was accused of sexually abusing a PCA student. He was convicted and sentenced to 7 years probation. Concerns were raised about PCA’s decision to hire Johnson’s wife as a teacher at the PCA North campus. Prestonwood Christian Academy is a ministry of Southern Baptist megachurch Prestonwood Baptist Church, my former church. Prestonwood’s main church and school campus is located in Plano, Texas, with another church and school location in Prosper, Texas.
Adam Johnson was convicted of an improper relationship with a student, a second-degree felony. He was sentenced to 10 years probation and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and perform community service after pleading guilty to having an improper relationship with a Prestonwood student.
While Rebekah Johnson was teaching fourth grade at Prestonwood Christian Academy North last year, as a reward for students for good behavior once they filled up their punch cards, she would have her husband, the sex offender, draw them pictures. In the opinion of parents from PCA, Rebekah was using her access as a teacher as a go between with her sex crime convicted husband and her students. I agree with that opinion. This issue was raised by multiple parents to the administrators of PCA, and eventually this led to her leaving the school over the Christmas break last year.
Rebekah didn’t like parents finding my post and wrote a response.
Now Rebekah Johnson has been hired to teach at Moore Middle School in Celina ISD which is just north of Prestonwood Christian Academy. She is also the Moore Middle School cheer coach. I am appalled at this reckless decision on her part and that of the Celina ISD administration. She knows of her husband’s conviction. We must always put the protection of children first. Rebekah Johnson has made egregious choices that could enable her husband’s predation. Her new job and position as a cheer coach to teen girls places kids in the presence of a sex offender. Is he in the stands at games with her? Does she host events for the kids in the presence of her husband? If I were a parent in that school and district, I would be livid at this situation.

Moore Middle School and Celina ISD have been in the news frequently over the last month. At least 4 Celina ISD employees have been arrested, and several more have been placed on leave. Two of the arrests were teachers at Moore Middle School. A teacher and football coach, Caleb Elliott, has been arrested and charged with invasive recording, possession of child sex abuse material, and a new charge last week of inducing the sexual performance of a child. He has since resigned.
Celina ISD is facing lawsuits involving the alleged crimes committed by Caleb Elliott and the district’s handling of his employment. Caleb’s father is Bill Elliott, the longtime head football coach at Celina High School and district athletic director. Bill Elliott has been placed on leave. Nine additional families joined one of the lawsuits against the district last week, bringing the total number of plaintiffs to 12. KERA reported that more families could join the lawsuit, and the law firm has set up an anonymous tip line for anyone who has information about what happened in the locker room.
Finally, to Rebekah Johnson, your husband didn’t make a “mistake” back in 2010. He committed a crime, a felony that makes him a convicted sex offender. If you truly cared about him, you would not continue to seek employment that gives him easy access to kids. He assaulted a student, a kid. Your continued work around kids also shows a complete lack of regard for the seriousness of your husband’s sex offense, not to mention your lack of regard for the safety of the kids.
Celina ISD, wake up. You continue to place kids in your schools at risk.
Update: It’s come to my attention that Rebekah Johnson has family ties to Moore Middle School in Celina. She has sisters that also teach there. I’m told that her brother-in-law is a teacher and coach at the high school (the grandson of Jerry and Linda Moore whom the school is named for.)
